The state rested its case Tuesday, May 30 in Shawn Freeman's trial. He's accused of kidnapping and raping multiple women in 2014 and 2015.
Detective Scott Murphy was the only witness on the stand. He's a sex crimes detective for Tulsa Police. Detective Murphy said, in his division, they call Shawn Freeman the "Admiral Rapist."
That's because most of these incidents happened between May 2014 and September 2015 - along the Admiral corridor which runs from downtown to East Tulsa. The detective said a lot of people walking around in that area, including a lot of prostitutes.

Murphy says the "Admiral Rapist" would sometimes identify as a police officer, pick women up on the side of the road, and then force them to have sex with him. In this case, two of the four women have admitted to being prostitutes, but Detective Murphy says that doesn't make them any less of a victim.
Freeman is facing 14 total charges, including several counts of first-degree rape. The defense will present its case Wednesday, but we don't know whether or not Shawn Freeman will take the stand.
