A 30-year-old Tahlequah man's body was found on the roof of an apartment complex on Tuesday morning, and Tahlequah police said they've investigated the incident and are now treating it as an accidental death.
In a May 16 news release, police identified the man as Brolin Ray Ivey of Tahlequah.
Tahlequah Police said they received a call May 15 about an unconscious man on the roof of an apartment and when police, Tahlequah fire and EMS arrived, they determined that Ivey was dead.
News On 6 was contacted by Ivey's sister who said the family attempted to get help from Tahlequah police on Sunday, May 14 when Brolin attempted to hang himself with a rope. The family said Ivey's brother, Joshua, stopped Brolin and called police and asked to put Brolin under a 72-hour psychiatric watch because the family said he was suicidal.
His sister said the officer asked Brolin if he was suicidal and he said no, so the officer said he wasn't able to put him under a watch.
The family was contacted one day later by police after Brolin was found dead on the roof of the apartment after using his shirt to hang himself, his sister said.
Tahlequah police said the specific cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner.
