About 574 customers were without power in and around Skiatook in the bitterly cold temperatures Monday. Power was restored by 9 a.m.
Sid Sperry with Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives said Verdigris Valley had problems with a broken crossarm and some damaged conductors.
The crossarm is the horizontal part of the power pole from which lines are hung. Conductors are similar to insulators, and they protect the line from shorting out on the crossarm.
Verdigris called in an extra crew to help fix the problem.
One Skiatook area resident said his in-house thermometer was reading in the low 30s early Monday morning.
