It’s a Saturday full of Christmas parades across Green Country, and a cold wind will keep it feeling like the holiday season today!

We’re returning to a south-southeast breeze today, and by the afternoon that wind will become quite brisk with some gusts over 20 to 25 miles per hour possible. Normally that kind of wind would help our temperatures climb pretty quickly, but some stubborn clouds are expected to linger for much of the day, keeping our highs primarily in the upper 40s by mid to late afternoon.

That gusty wind will be a bit of a nuisance for area Christmas parades today, so keep the jacket handy! South winds will remain pretty strong and quite chilly into the evening for Tulsa’s big Christmas parade as well, but fortunately the parade is looking dry this time around!

A very brief but big warming trend awaits us on Sunday out ahead of our next cold front. Continued strong south winds will push our morning lows well up into the 40s, and even with continued cloudy skies we could push the 60 degree mark in some parts of eastern Oklahoma for afternoon highs! Areas of drizzle are expected in the morning to early afternoon Sunday before another front brings in drier and colder air by Sunday night.

If you’re not a fan of the cold weather you’ll need to enjoy that more mild air on Sunday, because chillier conditions look to become pretty commonplace once again for much of next week! The cold front that moves through late Sunday is not an Arctic front, but will trim our temperatures back to seasonable levels with lows around freezing and highs around 50 by Monday. Temperatures will only get colder from there, so don't put the winter jackets away anytime soon!
