Man Found Alive After Massive Tulsa Building Fire

Tulsa firefighters have found a man who survived over two and a hours inside a vacant building which caught fire early Saturday morning.

Just before 7 a.m. Tulsa firefighters were called to the fire at the building at 3rd and Peoria.

The building is located just northeast of the downtown area.

Firefighters said two people inside the building were pulled to safety by firefighters when they arrived on scene.  Both were taken to the hospital and were treated for minor injuries. The fire department believes the two were transients staying in the building.

District 1 Fire Chief Chuck French say a third person was found inside what was left of the building at about 9:30 a.m.  Firefighters and medics have talked to the man, but say he appears to be uninjured.

Multiple firefighters and fire trucks were called out to contain the blaze and keep it from spreading to nearby structures.  

Firefighters did say water supply issues hampered their efforts to fight the blaze.

Police also blocked off a number of streets around the scene, trying to keep spectators out of danger.

Smoke from the fire could be seen for several miles.
