A couple who tried to rob an Okmulgee County feed store is in jail. Okmulgee County Sheriff's Office arrested Cody Smallwood and Mandy Kelley after a manhunt ended in a Henryetta creek bed.
Deputies said Smallwood, 25, tried to rob the Coalton Feed Store near Highway 75 and Coalton Road Tuesday, November 22. He pointed a gun at an employee and demanded money, but the employee struggled with Smallwood and was able to shut him out the door.
Smallwood then took off, and investigators from TCSO and the District 25 Violent Crimes Task Force tracked him to a house in Henryetta. Smallwood was trying to hide in a nearby creek bed, according to a news release.
He was booked on complaints of armed robbery, feloniously pointing a firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Deputies also arrested Smallwood's girlfriend, 33-year-old Mandy Kelley, on drug and firearm complaints. She also had an outstanding warrant for second-degree burglary.
The release said Smallwood was in custody within two hours of the attempted robbery.
