The morning thousands of runners have been waiting for is here - the Williams Route 66 Marathon got underway with a color guard presentation at 8 a.m.
Runners warmed up for the big races at the starting line at 7th and Main.
Events include a half marathon, full marathon and marathon relay.
There is a runner a from every state in Tulsa right now along with ten other countries. A man we met from Illinois will be running - and he's blind.
David Kune runs with two guides, you can see him here in the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon.
Together they use a rope to stay connected, and they let him know if they're approaching a hill or rough pavement.
He finished his first marathon in 1999 after an accident with a drunk driver in 1981 which caused him to slowly lost his eyesight over the years.
He had to give up driving, and eventually started running.

"Started into bicycling as a way to get around, and slowly had to give that up," said runner David Kune. "About the same time I was able to participate in a cross country triathlon from Santa Barbara, California to New York City - it was a fundraiser for children with disabilities, and they wanted adults with disabilities to be their role models."
David will be running an ultra-marathon Sunday, going a little farther than the 26.2 miles.
