The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a Muskogee teenager is dead and one is in critical condition after a rollover crash near Muskogee Monday night.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the crash happened before 6:30 Monday, October 10, 2016, on a county road one mile west of Muskogee.
OHP wrote in the collision report that the 17-year-old driver tried to pass a car at an unsafe speed on the country road when she went off the road and rolled her 1999 Mercury SUV two times before the vehicle came to a rest on the driver's side.
OHP said neither were wearing seatbelts and they were both thrown from the vehicle.
Both teens were life-flighted to St. Francis Hospital following the crash.
The 17-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the hospital from head and trunk injuries and the 16-year-old passenger remains in critical condition with head and trunk injuries, patrolmen said.
