The Oklahoma Highway Patrol believes alcohol contributed to a wrong way head-on crash on the northwest corner of the IDL in downtown Tulsa Wednesday night.

Troopers said the crash happened at 11:30 p.m. on Interstate 244 at the Tisdale Expressway.

The OHP says 28-year-old Blane Barnard of Bixby was driving a 2001 Honda Civic west in the eastbound lanes of  I-244 when he struck a 2007 Chevy HHR, driven by Esmeralda Ortiz, 35 of Mannford.

The troopers report stated Barnard was thrown from his car upon impact.

Barnard and a passenger, Derek West, 26, of Tulsa were taken to the hospital.  Ortiz, who was pinned in the wreckage was also taken to a Tulsa hospital, where all three were admitted.
