There's no question that Oklahoma schools had to make cuts this year.

But parents at one Green Country district wonder how necessary are their sacrifices. The Catoosa School Board held a special budget meeting Monday night.

The school board came under fire in July when it approved a $1.5 million press box.

But some parents are questioning why the district is funding other projects.

"Doesn't make any sense when they say they're trying to keep a balanced budget but they're letting teachers go and things fall apart." said Catoosa Parent Lee Berggren.

Meanwhile, the district moved to a four-day school week this fall to save money.

"We're talking about investing in long-term solutions, not short-term. When you have one-time monies and windfall, the worst thing you can do is put that money is recurring expenses," said Catoosa Superintendent Rick Kibbe.

Kibbe said he and the school board will take another look at the budget in March and decide whether another year of four-day school weeks is necessary.
