Claremore firefighters are heading to Colorado Springs to see fallen firefighter Captain Jason Farley inducted into the International Firefighters Hall of Fame. Farley was killed while trying to rescue families trapped by flood water last year.
Farley was a 19-year veteran described as "larger than life," known for having strong emotions and a love of practical jokes, friends say. He left a wife, Shelli and daughter Hannah.
The Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, but events begin Friday morning.
A golf tournament last month helped raise money to pay for the trip. His widow is there as well.
