Bixby Police are looking for a man who escaped from custody Wednesday morning. Daniel Mejia, 28, got away from the scene of a disturbance, according to Assistant Chief Andy Choate.

Police were called to the 12900 block of South 74th East Avenue just after 7 a.m. when someone reported a woman armed with a handgun. The caller said the woman was at a house threatening to shoot people, a news release states.

When officers arrived, they said the man who owns the house told them the woman hit him in the face with the gun.

There were several people at the residence, and police said no one was cooperative. They found the gun, and they also found a man hiding in the residence, Choate said.

That man, Mejia, was handcuffed and put in a patrol car but managed to get away. Officers looked for him but believe someone in a car picked him up and helped him get away.

Choate said Mejia is wanted for escape from custody with other charges pending.

If you have any information about him, call Bixby Police at 918-366-8294.
