Rogers County Sheriff's Office said a Foyil-area man attacked his wife with a sledgehammer handle then stabbed himself to death, possibly with a crossbow bolt.

Deputies responded to the domestic assault and battery just after 10 p.m. Tuesday in the 18400 block of East Highway 28A.

Authorities said 49-year-old Sean Blue locked himself and his wife in the bathroom where he beat her about the head with the handle of a sledgehammer. Blue had reportedly been drinking and was carrying around a large hunting knife, Rogers County Sheriff's Office said.

He ran off and was discovered nearby with an "apparent perforating chest wound consistent with a crossbow bolt," authorities state.

Investigators said they determined his wound was self-inflicted.

Both Blue and his wife Melinda were taken to a Tulsa hospital where he died. His wife sustained severe head injuries. Deputies said she is going to live but will have a long journey to recovery.

There were four children at home at the time of the attack, and two tried to intervene, deputies said. No word on whether they were hurt.

The victim had told her husband she wanted a divorce, investigators said.
