One of Tulsa's first female firefighters is retiring after 25 years on the job.

Debbie Bailey joined the Tulsa Fire Department back in 1991.

News On 6 covered was there during her first Labor Day, helping the department raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and putting out a grass fire.

Bailey started out at Station 3, eventually rising through the ranks to Assistant Fire Marshal.

The department threw her retirement party at the old Fire Alarm Building - the future home of the department's museum.

Bailey said some of her best memories with TFD happened when she helped with the career academy and fire camps.

"To have some of those kids that went through those over the 10 years that I was involved in it be on the department now speaks volumes," she said.

Bailey hopes to stay active in education helping out area non-profits.
