An Okmulgee County reserve deputy remains on administrative leave after a woman accused him of impersonating a Tulsa County deputy.
The Okmulgee County Sheriff's Office tells News On 6, the reserve deputy saw a young child alone in a car at the QuikTrip at 11th and Garnett Thursday. He said the car was not running and the child was sweating.
He says he called 911, but it was busy, so when a woman came out of the store and walked to the car he approached her and asked for her ID. He says he called 911 again and still no one answered, so he told the woman he would let her go with a warning.
When the woman called the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office, she said her car was running, the air conditioning was on and the man identified himself as a Tulsa County deputy. Although he says he told her he was an out-of-town reserve deputy.
The Okmulgee County Sheriff Eddie Rice says they are still conducting interviews and are looking at the store's surveillance video.
