A 44-year-old convict is on the loose after walking away from a minimum-security prison Sunday. William Stewart was last seen at the Northeast Oklahoma Correctional Center between 6 and 8 p.m.
A spokesperson for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections said the facility has an open yard, and Stewart was able to walk off.
He has a long history of convictions including three for escape from other correctional facilities. The ODOC website said they are from state facilities, but they were actually from county lockups, according to the spokesperson.
Most of his other convictions are for burglary and fraud.
If you see him or know anything about his whereabouts, call 911.
