The heat and humidity will grab the weather headlines again today and this weekend despite the possibility of a few isolated storms across far northern and eastern OK.
Another heat advisory will be required today and probably this weekend with heat index values from 105 to 110 in some locations. The mid-level ridge of high pressure is weakening slightly and this will allow a few isolated storms to move into the northern periphery of the ridge today and this weekend. Most data support slightly higher and deeper moisture content to arrive across eastern OK next week. This means a continuation of a daily yet highly isolated storm chance next week. Temperatures may drop a few degrees next week with some locations ending up in the 97 to 99 range but the metro could end-up still near 100 with the heat index numbers around 103 to 106. It's possible that some heat advisories may be required for a few counties next week while a few counties may skip out.
A weak front will enter southern or southeastern Kansas later today. This front will not move into northern OK but a few storms that generate off the front to our north may produce one or more outflow boundaries that could drop into part of northeastern OK today and trigger a few widely spaced to isolated storms. There also appears to be a small disturbance located across northwestern OK again this morning that will combine with resident outflows to produce scattered storms from northwestern to north central Ok and possibly near our area. Our forecast continues to keep a slight mention for a few of these cells today but the overall coverage will remain very low. Most folks will miss out.
The front and associated outflows may also reside close enough to northern OK for a few weekend storms across the northern portion of the state. Our forecast continues to keep the slight mentions through the weekend due to the proximity of these features.

Morning lows are expected in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Daytime highs will be near 100 today and most of the weekend before dropping a few degrees next week.
Thanks for reading the Friday morning weather discussion and blog.
