Developer Sues Over Vacant Downtown Tulsa Lot

A Tulsa development group has filed an injunction against the Tulsa Development Authority regarding the empty plot of land across from ONEOK Field.

Novus Homes contracted to buy the 42,000 square foot lot back in 2013 in order to redevelop it.

The group claims the TDA failed to adhere to the redevelopment agreement on numerous levels.

Most recently, Novus claims in its suit, the TDA, a public trust, violated the open meetings act regarding its requests for proposals.  

The attorney representing Novus Homes stated Wednesday 

"The Oklahoma Meetings Act sets forth certain requirements that the Tulsa Development Authority must follow when notifying the public of business to be transacted during a TDA meeting. It is our position that the TDA did not follow those requirements and there was a violation of the Act during the April 7, 2016 Regular Meeting"

We called the TDA for comment but haven't heard back. The issue is set to be discussed in executive session at the Tulsa Development Authority meeting on August 4, 2016.

Statement from Melissa East, attorney for Cecilia and Will Wilkins:

It is our position that the TDA did not follow those requirements and there was a violation of the Act during the April 7, 2016 Regular Meeting with regard to the TDA’s approval of Resolution 6205 authorizing the issuance of a Request for Proposals for the purchase and redevelopment of a tract of TDA owned property located at the Northwest Corner of East Archer Street and North Elgin Avenue, Tulsa, Oklahoma. A lawsuit has been filed to invalidate the action taken by the TDA in violation of the Act."
