A Delaware County couple has been arrested for multiple counts of animal cruelty and neglect after authorities found at least 21 dogs at their home and others buried on the property.
Dennis and Lisa Garcia had the dogs - from puppies to adult - at their Colcord-area home.
Delaware County Sheriff's Deputies and members of two rescue groups, the Oklahoma Alliance for Animals and the Miami Animal Alliance, went to the property Saturday, the Grove Sun reports.
The Oklahoma Alliance for Animals posted the animals received medical care on site and were taken to Tulsa for continued care and boarding.
The Grove Sun reports the law enforcement excavated a mass grave on the property that contained animal bodies. It contained the remains of 18 dogs, one cat and three rabbits.
Lisa Garcia told authorities they sold the dogs at flea markets, according to the Sun.
The Oklahoma Alliance for Animals posted information on their Facebook page about the rescue, and you can contribute to the animals' care on their website.
