Bishop David Konderla will be ordained as the next bishop of the Tulsa Catholic Diocese Wednesday afternoon.
The ordination mass is taking place at the Reynolds Center at the University of Tulsa beginning at 2 p.m.
Bishop Konderla will be ordained by Oklahoma City Archbishop Paul Coakley, in the presence of Archbishop Christophe Pierre, Pope Francis' nuncio to the United States.
Konderla succeeds Bishop Edward Slattery who has served as head of the diocese since 1994. Bishop Slattery turned 75 in August last year.
