The Oklahoma Department of Corrections says the penitentiary in Hominy was without water from Saturday afternoon to Sunday about 7 p.m.
According to a spokesperson, the problem at Dick Connors Correctional Facility originated with a water line.
Officials thought the issue was fixed, but when they tried sending water through the line, there was a problem with a part, DOC's Alex Gerszewski said. A replacement was found and the repair was completed Sunday evening.
DOC said it had been working with Osage County Emergency Management to supply the prisoners with bottled water.
They have also gave each cell a 5-gallon bucket of water so inmates could flush toilets.
