The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a Missouri man died when a train collided with semi in Adair County Friday.

The OHP said the crash happened just after 1 p.m. on a county road off Highway 59 and near the Tyson facility between Watts and Westville.

OHP said 54-year-old Timothy Schmidt was going east on a county road and traveled into the path of a northbound train.

Troopers said the semi and train crashed and Schmidt was ejected from the semi. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

OHP said the engineer of the 124-car Kansas City Southern Train, 44-year-old David Fredrickson of Poteau and the conductor, 35-year-old Jonathan Logston of Fort Smith, Arkansas were treated and released from the hospital.

The OHP report stated the cause of the collision was failure to yield.
