A highway construction company says someone stole over $50,000 in tools and equipment from a trailer parked at a project on Highway 412 west of Sand Springs.

The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office says the theft happened near 177th West Avenue.

The company said whoever stole the items had to first move a piece of heavy equipment parked up against the trailer's door in order to get inside. They said the thieves then stole generators, tools and other related items.

A construction foreman says the company will now have to borrow equipment from other work sites so they can continuing work on this road project.
