The saga of hot and humid afternoons across eastern Oklahoma continues Saturday.
Saturday's high temperatures should once again reach into the low 90s. Conditions will be almost identical to Friday, except that dew points will be slightly higher. That means, it will feel more humid outside and heat index values will be higher as well.
Saturday's heat index values could get as high as 98° in the afternoon. We do have a chance for a few showers and storms this afternoon but it’s only a 10 percent chance. If you’re lucky enough to be under one of those showers, you’ll feel cooler for a short period of time before it feels like a sauna again.
Sunday, we have a better chance for showers and storms. This time, chances are more widespread and afternoon highs will be knocked down a degree or two. It still looks like we’ll manage to hit 90 degrees and still have to deal with a miserable heat index near 98 degrees.
Brace yourself, heat index values will flirt with 100 degrees for the middle of next week. At least a storm system will be close enough to us that we have chances for showers and storms through Thursday. Every cloud has a silver lining.
Remember, do not leave children or pets in your vehicle. It's too hot and the temperature in your vehicle climbs quickly. Saturday afternoon, the temperature inside your car could reach up to 110 degrees in a matter of minutes.
