The Big 12’s spring meetings started Wednesday.
The biggest news is a proposal for walk-on athletes who have transferred, such as Baker Mayfield of OU, to gain the year they lost back without losing a year of eligibility. The proposal came to a 5-5 vote, (no majority). So if Mayfield wants to play an extra year, it will have to be at a school not in the Big 12.
"It's important that we consider the matter not in light of one specific student-athlete but rather in light of what's the right rule going forward," stated Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby.

Another issue is expansion.
News On 6 Sports caught up with Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy on his thoughts.
"I just can't imagine that something won't happen within the next five years; that's just my opinion,” said Gundy. “Everybody knows I have great concerns about Longhorn Network, and I think until we consolidate and get a conference network then we'll be somewhat behind the eight ball."
And speaking of networks, OU and OSU are releasing game times.
Notably for the Sooners, the team’s home opener will be against ULM (6:00 p.m. PPV) and their game against Ohio State (6:30 p.m. FOX) will be nationally televised. The Red River game against Texas will show on FS1 (game time TBA).
OSU released the times of their non-conference games including its home opener against Southeastern Louisiana is at 2:30 p.m., game against Michigan at 11 a.m., and game against Pittsburgh at 2:30 p.m. (ESPN).
