Police arrested an Owasso woman who they said tried to get relatives and restaurant employees to bypass into her car's breath alcohol ignition interlock device [BAIID] early Monday.

Just after midnight, Owasso Police were called to a restaurant in the 9200 block of North Owasso Expressway.  When they arrived they found Kayla Martin-Weliwita, 35, who appeared to be intoxicated.

The relatives told police that Kayla was drunk and wanted them to provide a breath sample for her car's BAIID, but they had refused.

A breath alcohol ignition interlock device[BAIID] requires a driver to blow into a mouthpiece before starting the vehicle.  If the blood-alcohol concentration is above state mandated limits, the engine will not start.

Police also talked with restaurant employees who said Kayla Martin-Weliwita had asked several of them to provide breath samples for her vehicle's BAIID, but they had refused.

Kayla Martin-Weliwita was booked into the Tulsa County jail on complaints of public intoxication, child abuse and neglect.  Jail records show her bond at $100,000 with a court appearance set for June 7.
