This is opening weekend for the new Safari Joe’s H2O water park, formerly Big Splash.
There’s new management and a new attitude as it opens for business.
"They've got all new playground equipment, they've got news slides coming in, everything's touched up and looks a lot better,” visitor Zack Radcliffe said.
With the temperatures heating up and rain clouds staying away, park manager Amber Woessner tells us the holiday weekend has been a success.
“Compared to other years, I can tell you it's been really good because the weather was on our side,” she said. “We ran a special yesterday because things were still under construction.”
Woessner's father built the park 35 years ago, and she's spent 14 years of her adult life working here. She says it's exciting to watch the Tulsa landmark get a much-needed update.
"We're adding a new end to the end of our master blaster; we're extending it," park manager Amber Woessner said.
“We're also adding three new slides to the slide tower where we took down two, we're adding three and it's going to be called the Reptile Rush,” she said.
And speaking of reptiles, you may run into a few of those at the park...
Some new exhibits include animals, like tortoises, big lizards, a snake show and talking exotic birds.
But if that's not your thing, there are plenty of water attractions to keep you occupied whether you're 8 months or 8 years old at heart.
“Come here, it's not that expensive,” Radcliffe said. “You get to hang out and kids get to play all day.”
