A lot of people come up with great ideas for businesses, but don’t act. Well, one business in Kellyville is doing well after getting that needed push.
Riding instructor at Sundown Stables, Olivia Chatron, is quite the story. She’s one of this year’s scholarship recipients from OK2Grow.
"This is for high school seniors who have existing businesses," said state director of OK2Grow, Stephanie Cameron.
In four years, they have given 44 scholarships to young entrepreneurs, like Olivia.
"We really want to encourage those people, Tulsa, and our region is really a place where people can make their dreams come true," Cameron said
Olivia was looking for a place to ride and found Sundown Stables. They, it turns out, were looking for a riding instructor - sometimes serendipity is the best matchmaker.
"I was kind of nervous about how it would go," she said.
It's going fine. She has ten to 15 students now, and the scholarship will help her expand her business.
She graduates from High School June 4th and plans to enroll in Tulsa Community College's veterinary tech program. She'll also still be in Kellyville giving riding lessons.
You can find Olivia and her Giddyonup Riding lessons on Facebook.
