A major road project is scheduled to start tomorrow and could impact your drive.
The stretch of North Garnett between Pine and 36th St. North is about to undergo some major renovations.
The road was put on the list in 2008 as part of the "Fix Our Street" program and is finally getting the TLC it needs.
Crews will be resurfacing the street, making it wider and adding shoulders on either side.
"Should be a safer road, should be a smoother road, should stand up to truck traffic better,” Field Engineering Manager Britt Vance said.
The project will take a little more than a year and be done one mile of road at a time.
"There's not a lot of residential pressure on this street nor is there a lot of commercial traffic,” Vance said. “Some people do travel this street, I'm sure, and I would say to them just be prepared to find alternate routes and to detour around."
Crews will have to block off and even shut down parts of the road at times, but once this project is complete, it will be one of the last of the 2008 list.
