Dreary days are here to stay for a while.
A slow moving storm system will bring rain and storm chances that last for several days. Right now, this storm system is just to our west and bringing active weather to Colorado, western Oklahoma, the Texas Panhandle and portions of western Kansas.
By Sunday afternoon, we will see rain and storms from this system start to move into eastern Oklahoma.
Latest data has widespread activity around by late afternoon. A few storms embedded in the widespread rainfall will be possible.
Rain will continue into Monday morning. The main wave will move east on Monday and give us a brief break for the afternoon. More rounds of rain and storms from this same system will be impacting for the remainder of the week. Even the driest days next week still have a chance for a few showers and storms.
Flood watches have been issued for western Oklahoma where the higher amounts of rainfall are expected. Four to seven inches of rain expected out west but about one to two inches on our side of the state.
With drought conditions creeping back in across northwestern Oklahoma, this rain will be much appreciated. It’s just a lot of water in a short amount of time. Remember, turn around don’t drown!
