There's a new candidate in the race for Tulsa County sheriff.

TPD’s Luke Sherman filed for office on Thursday after announcing his intent earlier this month.

Sherman came in second behind new sheriff Vic Regalado in the Republican special primary election on March 1.

Four other Republicans who finished lower in that race all threw their support behind Sherman last week.

Right now, the men face three others - including Democrat Rex Berry, who lost to Regalado in last week's special general election.

Regalado is now the sheriff and is serving out former longtime sheriff Stanley Glanz’s term after his resignation last year following a grand jury probe.

The November winner will serve a complete four-year term.

Regalado filed for his candidacy this week, as did Tulsa County Sheriff's Office Deputy Charles "Russell" Crow and Authur Jackson, a longtime supervisor at the Tulsa County jail who ran as an independent in the election to fill Glanz's seat.

Friday is the last day sheriff's candidates can file.
