National Track Stadium, BMX Headquarters Moving To Tulsa

The American Bicycle Association and USA BMX formally announced their plans to move to Tulsa on Wednesday.

The move will bring more than 50 jobs and $10 million in additional economic impact to northeast Oklahoma.   

Proposition 3 of the Vision Tulsa plan, which voters approved on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 includes funding to construct a $15 million National Track Stadium and USA BMX National Headquarters.

For more than 18 years, Tulsa has hosted the American Bicycle Association’s Grand Nationals at Expo Square. It has grown into the “largest race on earth” with 3,000 competitors and more than 6,000 family members who travel to Tulsa from across the U.S., Canada, and as far away as Australia.

Each year, the Grand Nationals provides a $12 million economic impact to the Tulsa community every Thanksgiving.

The new facility will be built at the site of the old Drillers Stadium, which is currently being used by the Tulsa Athletics soccer team. The team supported the passage of the Vision plan, saying it was already exploring several other locations for its games.
