East Tulsa Outlet Mall Development Canceled

Horizon has notified the City of Tulsa it will not be building an outlet mall in east Tulsa.  

News On 6 partner The Frontier broke the news.

The mayor's office confirmed Horizon CEO called the city Monday to give them news. The Frontier says "Simon (Property) was securing too many leases and they couldn't compete," Clay Bird was told. 

The proposed east Tulsa mall was planned for the southeast corner of the intersection where Interstate 44 meets Interstate 244.

The Simon Property Group announced in September 2015 it would build its outlet mall in Jenks instead of Tulsa.

Their mall will be built along the south side of the Creek Turnpike just west of the Arkansas River in an area known as Jenks' River District.
