It's an excitement felt all across Oklahoma, as the Sooners head to the Final Four for the first time since 2002.
"In Norman, everything is a blast [and] everybody is so excited about [how] it's been so long since anything like this has happened with basketball," said OU sophomore Danny Slagle.
From chair to chair all eyes were on channel 6 as the Sooners faced off against Oregon.
In a No.1 versus No. 2 matchup like this, victory could have gone to either school, but Slagle and his friends have faith in their team.
And with a team like this, they say it's a great time to be a college basketball fan in Oklahoma.
It's been seven years since OU made it to the Elite Eight and fans say the team has great skill but to get to this point they need more than that, they need luck and great coaching.
“I'm kind of a fan of the coach Lon Kruger has been,” said Sooner fan Larry Egge. “He's a great teacher, great coach, great motivator, and it's pretty obvious with the success he's had at OU."
Slagle also agrees that Kruger is a great coach.
"If I can say my favorite person on the team, Coach Kruger,” stated Slagle. “Coach Kruger brought them all together, and he brought OU basketball up from a dark time and brought them to the limelight."
As much credit they give Coach Kruger, fans can't deny the player's talent.
In the meantime, the focus is to stand with the Sooners as the stakes get higher on the road to the championship.
"I'm not even gonna talk about [OU possibly losing],” said Slagle. “If the unthinkable were to happen, it's been an incredible season and an incredible four years watching these big seniors play."
OU senior standout Buddy Hield finished with 37 points and made eight three-pointers, the most by any OU player in the NCAA Tournament.
