Tulsa Police took a man into custody after he led them on a chase through city streets and a parking lot Monday. When finally stopped, Brandon Martin allegedly told officers he'd had 10 shots and some heroin.

The arresting officer said Martin drove past him at East 16th Street and South Garnett Road around 4:30 p.m., running a red light. He was running from other officers after reportedly hitting several vehicles - including a postal truck.

Police followed him as he drove through a shopping center parking lot at 21st and Garnett then crossed a center median barrier into oncoming traffic on East 21st Street. At that time, he had to stop due to a shredded tire, the officer reports.

Police say Martin, 24, was trying to get his car back into gear when an officer came up to the car but was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody.

"Martin had red bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, an overwhelming odor of alcoholic beverages, was foaming at the mouth and was screaming," the arrest report states.

"I asked, 'have you been drinking,' and he stated, '10 shots,' and also 'some heroin.'"

The officer said they took Martin to a hospital to be checked out, and while there, he struck and kicked police from his hospital bed.

The Broken Arrow resident was booked on complaints of eluding, assaulting an officer, hit and run, possession of a stolen vehicle, driving under the influence, driving under suspension, speeding and running a red light.
