Vic Regalado Wins Republican Race For Tulsa County Sheriff

Tulsa County voters decided on the Republican nominee for Tulsa County sheriff. Vic Regalado, a sergeant with Tulsa police, beat out eight other candidates on Super Tuesday.

It was a special election to fill the unexpired term of former sheriff Stanley Glanz who resigned after he was indicted for misconduct in office.

On Super Tuesday, Republican voters chose Regalado by a large percentage. He'll now move on to face only Democratic candidate, Rex Berry, a retired Tulsa police officer of 26 years, in an April 5th election.

The new sheriff will be sworn in April 11th. He spoke to News On 6 reporter Allison Harris about what he plans to do to turn things around in the embattled sheriff's office.

"You just roll up your sleeves, and we evaluate," he said. "We see what we need to get after first, and we go to work. I've got to find people that are committed, ready for the long haul, long hours. It's going to be a long road, but we're going to do it."

Election Results

It will be the first time in almost three decades Tulsa County will elect a new sheriff. Two days after the new sheriff is sworn in is the filing deadline to fill the four-year term for sheriff.

So, voters will elect a new sheriff next month, and vote again for sheriff in November.
