A Claremore caretaker has been charged with the neglect of an elderly resident.

In a news release, Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt said 30-year-old Brianna Lynn Parks-Farris was charged with one count of neglect by a caretaker.

The release says Parks-Farris worked at Autumn wood Memory Care in Claremore as a Certified Nurse Aide when a resident was “found in the hallway, soaked in urine and with a deep gash on her elbow.”

Parks-Farris said she checked on the resident at the beginning of her shift but was unable to check again because she was overworked, according to the release.

It says, however, cell phone records show Parks-Farris used the Internet and was texting during the same time period. The release also said she later admitted she never checked on the resident during her shift.

If convicted, Parks-Farris could face up to ten years in prison and fines of $10,000.
