A man is in jail after leading Tulsa police on a high-speed chase through a neighborhood near Lewis and Independence.

Police said the driver was Billy Cruse, and he's in jail right now suspected of about a dozen misdemeanors, most of them traffic laws.

After authorities tried to pull him over in his passengers car near Independence and Birmingham overnight, he drove off and eventually went 60 mph in a 25, records show.

Police said because he was going so fast, Cruse crashed about a half mile northwest of there, got out and tried to hide behind a large bush.

Police used a K-9 officer to find and arrest the 38-year-old Tulsa man. They found paraphernalia in the car.

His passenger was not arrested.
