Sand Springs Counselor Honored At White House

A Green Country man went to the White House Thursday. Nick Hughes and the nation's other top school counselors were honored by First Lady Michelle Obama.

Hughes is the counselor at Limestone Technology Academy in the Sand Springs district, and is this year's Oklahoma School Counselor of the Year.

The First Lady thanked Hughes and the others for the important work they do every day.

"The work that you do is absolutely essential for the future of our kids, the future we say we want our kids to have," she said.

In Sand Springs, Hughes has created a counseling social media page to reach more children who might need his help.
