A Jenks middle school student had a run-in with a vehicle early Wednesday morning on the way to school. It happened near 111th and Sycamore.
Police say the girl had gotten out of her parents' vehicle and was running to the bus stop.
A SUV was turning into a gated community, and the girl ran into the side of that vehicle, according to police. An officer said she was knocked down by a side mirror on the SUV.
Police said the SUV driver was cited for passing a school bus loading and unloading children.
The girl was checked out for minor injuries at the scene and sent home, according to Jenks Public Schools. She had some bumps and bruises but will be OK.
Fortunately, she fell into a flower bed instead of the street, police say.
