Hold on tight to the steering wheel today! Wind gusts from 35 to 40 miles per hour will be possible through the afternoon and evening. A wind advisory has been issued for several counties in Green Country.

Strong winds from the south will offset the lack of sunshine today and highs will be well above normal. Despite helping to keep us warm, strong wind gusts could make driving west or east a little cumbersome later today.

Today will be another warm December day, and you probably aren’t surprised after the way our month has been. So far, 3 out of 19 days have been below freezing and the average temperatures is about 8 degrees above normal.

This week, we will continue to stay above normal. We have several cold fronts set to move through but it won’t be until next weekend that colder air actually settles in.

Christmas Eve and most of Christmas day are shaping up to be pretty nice. If you are planning on going to any Christmas Eve services, we should remain dry with warmer than normal temperatures.

Highs on Christmas Eve, in the upper 50s with mostly sunny skies. The weather starts changing on Christmas day, we’ll see more clouds with a breezy south wind and a chance of rain developing during the afternoon and evening across eastern Oklahoma. A cold front arrives late that night with some cooler air for the weekend.

Rain chances remain in the forecast for Saturday. If the freezing line makes it into eastern Oklahoma, we could see that precipitation transition into wintry weather. There is a lot of time between now and then so as always, it could change! Be aware that the potential is there, especially if you have travel plans next weekend.
