The main upper level system that brought the active weather to the state this weekend is rapidly moving northeast this morning. This will result in improving conditions today with partly to mostly cloudy conditions this morning with more sunshine later this afternoon. Daytime highs should be in the mid to upper 50s. A fast moving upper level system will move across the southwest U.S. and eject into the central plains Tuesday and Wednesday. A strong area of low pressure will quickly develop from southeastern Colorado Monday night and eject into the southwestern and central Kansas region Tuesday afternoon. Strong south winds will develop Tuesday ahead of the storm system that will drag a cold front across the state Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. The fast progression of this system will not allow sufficient moisture to return across the state with only extreme southeastern OK in the running for a shower or two. Another fast moving wave will brush the state Thursday but acting only to reinforce some cold air across northern Ok and southern Kansas. There could be some sprinkles or snow flurries late Thursday night across part of northwestern OK but the odds are extremely low. Therefore no precipitation will be expected with the late week wave (deep trough) across the plains.
Temperatures will stay in the mid to upper 50s today and in the mid-60s Tuesday for afternoon highs before dropping into the lower 50s Wednesday and the into the mid and upper 40s Thursday and Friday for the maximum values. Morning lows will be in the lower and mid-40s today and Tuesday then dropping into the mid-30s Wednesday morning. The coldest mornings will be Thursday and Friday with morning lows in the lower to mid-20s.
Thanks for reading the abbreviated Monday morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day!
