Christians and Muslims stood in solidarity Friday afternoon to spread peace over hate.

Fellowship Congregational United Church of Christ joined the Islamic Society of Tulsa for a peace rally, with signs saying, "Hate Free Tulsa."

Several Muslims at the event said they are receiving death threats both at work and at home, following the deadly terrorist attack in San Bernardino, California.

The pastor of the church involved in the rally said he wants to show the community what it means to "Love Thy Neighbor."

Outreach Director Aliye Shimi, “You know, for our community, it is extremely important. That shows our community that they are loved, that they are supported, that all of this hate that’s in the media they are hearing is not resonating with Tulsans here.”

The Islamic Society's Outreach Director said Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett and Tulsa police officers have been reassuring the safety of Muslims in the community
