Two Arrested After Brutal Tulsa Home Invasion

Two men have been arrested in connection to a home invasion and shooting that took place this summer in east Tulsa. Christopher Hicks and Joseph Winningham are in the Tulsa County Jail on numerous complaints. Police say Hicks killed the family dog, broke into a house and shot a man in the face, and that Winningham helped him conceal evidence of the crimes.

The home invasion took place July 28, 2015, in the 1900 block of South 117th East Avenue. A witness came forward earlier this month, leading police to arrest Hicks and Winningham, an arrest report states.

There were three adults and two children at home when police say suspects broke the glass on a back door and made entry. They reportedly bound the two adult male victims with duct tape, ransacked the house and stole money.

One of the suspects was carrying a gun that looked like an assault rifle and the other a handgun, the arrest report states. Police say Hicks was carrying the long gun, and he put it into the mouth of one of the adult victims and pulled the trigger, causing severe injuries. 

Police recovered one of the weapons in a storage unit rented by Winningham. They say Winningham was an accessory after the fact as he had knowledge of the incident and helped by concealing the weapon.

Hicks, 35, was booked on numerous complaints including kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, first-degree burglary, possession of stolen property and cruelty to animals - all after former felony conviction.

Winningham, 34, was booked on complaints of robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon, both accessory after the fact. It's not clear from the arrest report if Winningham was with Hicks at the time of the home invasion, but he has not been booked on those complaints, if so.

A third suspect was also named by the witness, but police have only a street name for that man, the report states.
