Thanksgiving is next week, and Tulsa's John 3:16 Mission needs your help feeding the needy.
The mission said it’s about 3,000 turkeys short of meeting its goal of handing out 5,000 turkey baskets.
That's in part because of the bird flu that hit earlier this spring, which is now keeping John 3:16 from buying turkeys in bulk.
Reverend Steve Whitaker said, "They've all been put in stores so you can buy singly, and so I can't buy them from anybody in bulk. No one will even talk to us about it, so people have got to go buy them if we're going to meet our goal. People have got to go buy them and bring them to John 3:16."
If you can help, you can donate at the John 3:16 Shelter on North Cheyenne, the Mission's Family and Youth Center on King Boulevard, or one of the Under the Sun garden centers at 91st and Sheridan or 51st & Harvard.
You can make also make a cash donation on the John 3:16 Mission's website.
