Man Dies After Shooting Near Gilcrease Expressway

A man died following a shooting near 31st Street North and Lewis near the Gilcrease Expressway, News On 6 has confirmed.

A middle-aged male was seen receiving CPR on scene and loaded into an ambulance. Police said he was transported in critical condition and died at a hospital.

Reports of the shooting came in just before 5 p.m. on Thursday. Homicide detectives were on scene putting up crime scene tape shortly after.

TPD said the victim was standing outside a home when people in a red Chevrolet Avalanche came up and attempted to rob him of his medication.When they pulled a gun the man struggled with them and was shot, TPD said.

Neighbors said the fight knocked down the victim's mailbox.

Officers performed a felony stop of a vehicle matching that description at Haney’s Food Store 911 E. 36th Street North. The took several people into custody as persons of interest.

About an hour later police said the vehicle stopped at Haney's had been cleared.
