Overturned Truck Damages U.S. 169 Concrete Barrier; Occupants Flee

A pickup crashed near 31st Street and U.S. Highway 169 on Saturday afternoon, but the driver and passenger ran from the scene, Tulsa police say.

TPD Cpl. R. Brown said he came upon a one-vehicle crash and saw the driver running away. A passenger, who initially was thought to be trapped in the overturned truck also ran.

Brown said he pursued them on the ground but couldn’t catch them. About a half hour later near a playground, officers found Fabian Tellez and arrested him for public intoxication and resisting arrest.

The collision caused damage to the concrete barriers on U.S. 169, and TPD says the damage will result in significant traffic issues until repaired.

Police still are looking for the passenger of the truck.

The investigation is ongoing.
