The Tulsa Fire Department says improperly disposal of smoking materials led to a fire at the Tower Crossing Apartments Sunday morning.
Sixteen families were forced out of the complex near 41st and Garnett just before 11 a.m. The fire started in a second story unit then spread into the attic. TFD said about 20 fire companies and 70 firefighters battled the fire, rotating out in the intense heat.
"Firefighters did a really good job cutting it off before it could come back down into the the other apartments, but we are going to have a lot of water damage throughout the whole building," said Fire Captain Stan May.
