A home invasion near Northeastern State University terrified a Tahlequah family, but they reacted quickly.

The family says the man burst through the door and ran to the back bedroom.

Don Alexander, the father, grabbed Brandon Grigsby, the intruder and pinned him down. That's when he says Grigsby started threatening to kill his family.

Alexander's wife, two daughters and four-month-old grandson were home, and he had just gotten in from the store. "I had time to walk from the front of the house to the back bedroom, and say something to my wife and there he was," explained Alexander.

According to him, Grigsby was bloody and high.

He says he grabbed Grigsby and held him down.

Patricia Phelps sprained her ankle running to help her dad. "It was pretty chaotic because my sister, she was bawling, scared, because he ran at her, apparently," said Phelps.

She heard some of the threats Grigsby supposedly made against their family like he would torture and kill them, and give them HIV and Hepatitis.

Alexander says police officers got there quickly and told him they knew Grigsby well, and that he may have been running from the police that night. "He told us that before the cops ever got there, 'Just let me go, let me go, I'm trying to get away from public intox,'" said Alexander.

Grigsby was arrested on several complaints, including, terroristic threats, public intoxication, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and first-degree burglary. He has a hearing later this month.

The family says they're now doing a better job to keep all their doors locked, even when they're at home.
