Special Olympians Get Big Salute Returning To Tulsa

Special Olympians received quite a welcome when they returned to Tulsa Monday afternoon.

Special Olympians received quite a welcome when they returned to Tulsa Monday afternoon.

Their plane received a water cannon salute courtesy the Tulsa Fire Department.

Three athletes and two coaches returned home on August 3, 2015 after traveling to the world games in Los Angeles. 

The athletes included Casey Butcher from Vinita, Kendal Davis from Tahlequah and Elizabeth Hubert from Catoosa.

Dennis Story from Ada coached golf and Caleb Shoaf from Yukon coached Athletics. 

The U.S. "home team" included 304 athletes and 43 Unified Partners competing in 17 sports, 102 volunteer coaches, and 42 volunteer sports and management team members, representing all fifty states and the District of Columbia. The team also included several Special Olympics Unified Sports® teams, where people with and without intellectual disability compete together, as teammates.
